Make it Easier to Keep Your New Year’s Resolutions

My alarm goes off at 6:45 every morning, and I roll out of bed, driven by the knowledge that I have things ready to get done before my husband leaves me and the kids for work. Today, for example, it was writing this blog post.

All I had to do was shuffle, bleary-eyed to my computer, where I had left my browser tabs open and ready for Morning-Me to get it done.

I was recently featured in a blog post over on Redfin about how to keep your New Year’s resolutions, where I and other contributors shared ways to set yourself up for success.

I talked about lowering your barriers to entry when you’re forming a new habit. One of the things I love about the exercise videos that I use is that they all start flat on my back. It’s easier to get myself into the flow of the workout if the first step is laying down on something soft.

Starting small is a great way to trick your brain into wanting to do what you otherwise might not.
